I Can Walk . . . Can You?
Did you know that walking is the #1 activity for Canadians?
Not all communities are designed for walking. We know that it can be hard to walk to work, to shop or to visit friends because things are so far apart. Towns, cities and rural hamlets do not always design streets and sidewalks to make it easy for people to walk. We also know that communities can do many simple things to support walking. Visit http://www.icanwalk.ca for tips and tools to make your community more walkable.
Walkable Communities
Healthy Living Niagara prepared a report based on data collected from residents about barriers that make it difficult for people to walk to many destinations in Niagara. It is hoped that this report will support budget and policy decisions that improve the built environment to better support walking and cycling.
